Training with a world Champion

During this preparation period for our expedition every little detail is carefully studied, gear is being tested and many hours are spent working out in the gym and running and hiking in the woods. For our expedition, the one extremely difficult thing to train here in Belgium is the dog sledding itself . (almost) no snow, (almost) no dogs!

One would (almost) forget we have an European and World Champion amongst us: Joël Reyniers! Please check out Joël’s website: http://www.runbeforebeauty.be/

After a couple of phone calls Joël was so kind to spend a morning dogsled training with me. We ran the dogs for about an hour and a half and we talked about the do’s and don’t’s of mushing. Although, far from being comparable to the Mongolian cold, the 4°C felt “extreme” on this stormy wet, and above all, muddy morning.

The hauling of the dogs brought back sweet (Canadian) memories. It was awesome!

Thank you Joël!
